General Guidance
Your co-operation in the following would be most welcomed:-
that your child has access to some tissues if they are suffering from a cold.;
that your child has an appropriate change of clothes for P.E. e.g. shorts, T-shirt, trainers or daps (please make sure footwear is the correct size);
that your child has a coat in school, even if the weather may look fine for the day;
that your child arrives on time for the start of the day (9.00 a.m.) and is collected on time at the end of the day (3.15 pm).
Your support of the above will be very much appreciated.
Parent’s Role
Continue to support and listen to your child read books and other reading material sent from school e.g. flashcards (beginning to learn how to spell these), letter/sound cards and school books. Share other books
e.g. fiction, non-fiction (information books) and poetry. Send reading material to school in a water-proof bag everyday.
Continue to support your child with handwriting and writing at home e.g. school script handwriting (lower case when writing their name), writing personal accounts, diaries, lists, sentences to match pictures drawn, story writing etc.
Continue to support your child at home with numeracy exercises e.g. counting, number games, number rhymes, sorting , simple addition and subtraction (within 10) etc.
