Language                                                            

Reading fiction, poetry & drama. Comparing similarities and differences between authors and stories.

Learning how to use capital letters, full stops and question marks.

Non Fiction: Looking at instructions, directions and contents pages.


Mathematics                                                          

Numbers to 100, addition, subtraction, money and fractions.

Measuring using cm and m, 3-D Shape, clockwise and anti-clockwise angles, telling the time to o'clock and half past, sorting data using Venn diagrams.


Science Topics                                                          

Investigating forces through toys; eg pushes, pulls, twists, gravity, floating and sinking etc.


Topic: Toys and Our Colourful World

Investigating how our toys are different from the past.

Making a chassis with wheels and axles.

Learning about religious festivals-Harvest, Diwali, Christmas.

Looking at the seasons and the changes that occur in Autumn.

Investigating colours by mixing paints and printing

 

 

Parent's Role

Continue to support and listen to your child read. Share fiction and non-fiction books at home.

Continue to support your child with handwriting, ensuring correct formation and joining.

Continue to support you child with numeracy eg counting, number games and rhymes, sorting, simple addition and subtraction, telling the time and using money.

 

General Guidance

Try to hear your child read as often as possible, discussing the text. Please ensure they bring their reading book to school daily.

Encourage your child to write independently

Practise using numbers to 100 in different contexts. Teach them about money and how to tell the time.

PE is on a Monday and Thursday. We will be going outside, therefore, please ensure your child has a PE kit with appropriate foot wear in school at all times.
