Language

Reading fiction, non-fiction & poetry. Comparing similarities and differences between authors and stories.
Learning how to use capital letters. full stops and question marks.
Non Fiction: Looking at instructions, directions and contents pages.
Learning to speak confidently to an audience and to collaborate effectively within groups.

Mathematics

Addition and subtraction up to 100.
Measuring using cm and m.
Adding money up to £1 up to 100.
Recognising simple 3-D shapes.
Multiplying by 2 and 5.
Recognising halves and quarters.

Parent's Role

Please listen to your child read as often as possible and write your views on your child's reading in the reading record book.

Please encourage your child to complete their homework neatly and independently. ensuring accurate letter formation.

Support your child in their number work by counting in 2s, 5s and 10s up to 100. Play shop using money up to £ 1. Help them to tell the time.

Science Topics

Ourselves: - Learning the differences between living and non-living things. Discussing the importance of keeping healthy through eating the right foods and exercising. Knowing that medicines can make us better if we are ill. but can be dangerous.

Topic Work-All About Me

Art: Take portrait photographs and use ICT to change. Investigate. design and make jewellery. Investigate and use style of Welsh artists Chris Griffin and Ogwyn Davies.
D. T: Designing and making an articulated figure.
Welsh: Beginning to describe self in Welsh. talk about family and interests.
I.T. : Word processing skills using Microsoft Word. Using an arts package to create pictures.
PSE: Talking about the importapce of friends and family. Learning that hygiene is important to stay healthy.
P.E. Dance and Gymnastics

General Guidance

• Please make sure your child wears an appropriate outdoor coat to school as we are often outside in cold and damp weather.
• All children should have the correct P.E. clothes in school as well as a pair of trainers for outside P.E. Our P.E. days are Monday and Friday
• Please do not allow your children to wear jewellery to school.
• Ensure all items of clothing are labelled with your child's name.
