Language
Reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction books.
Writing in a variety of ways: letters, poems, stories, descriptions, explanations etc.
Reading as a class and in groups. Beginning to re-write our work to encourage neatness and correction of mistakes. Listening politely to others and speaking to a variety of audiences.

Mathematics
Addition and subtraction up to 1000
Symmetry and right angles
Multiplication and division
Fractions: halves and quarters of different quantities
Telling the time and introducing minutes and seconds.

Science Topics
Plants: discussing the different parts of a plant, conditions needed for growth and growing our own sunflowers.
Investigating Minibeasts - Habitats and Life Cycles.

Topic Work
Art: Investigating Clay, making and decorating Flora coil pots.
D.T: Designing and making a minibeast
Welsh: Food: describing preferences, designing menus and role playing a 'Caffi'
I.T. Creating our own database.
PSE Learning about eating healthily and designing a healthy lunch box.
P.E. Simple striking and fielding games.

General Guidance
Please make sure your child wears an appropriate outdoor coat to school as we are often outside in cold and damp weather.
All children should have the correct P.E. clothes in school as well as a pair of trainers for outside P.E. Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Thursday.
Please do not allow your children to wear jewellery to school. Ensure all items of clothing a labelled with your child’s name.

Parent’s Role
Please write your views on your child’s reading in the reading record book and ensure your child brings their reading book to school every day.
Please encourage your child to complete their homework neatly and independently.
Support your child with their number work, by helping them to tell the time, add and subtract using money and learn their 2, 5, and 10 times tables.
Reinforce letter formation when writing, and listen to or read to your child as often as possible
