Class : 4 Term : Autumn Language Your child will read and respond to a variety of texts. They will find out how stories are constructed. They will write character descriptions and retell incidents from a story. They will write from a character’s point of view, in the form of a diary or letter. They will write a newspaper article and a report based on personal experience. They will investigate sentence structure, punctuation, verbs and begin to explore the use of paragraphs. Parent’s Role Please continue to support your child with reading, spelling, handwriting and other home tasks. Please help your child to learn their 2,3,4,5 and 10 times tables. Mathematics To read, write and order numbers of increasing value. To develop problem solving skills and explore the four rules of number. To investigate patterns of number eg multiples. To explore 2D shape. To estimate volume and capacity, introducing appropriate units. To improve mental speed for calculation. Science Topics We will be exploring the topic of Electricity. Foundation Subjects Music Exploring rhythmic patterns Technology - Systems and controls ICT - Manipulating text. Combining text and graphics. Producing simple bar graphs. RE - Hinduism Welsh - Describe rooms and activities in the house, food preferences, telling the time and days of the week in Welsh. PE - Games and Gymnastics Art Investigate representations of Hindu god Ganesh, work as a group to produce collage. History - research project: Cooking through the Ages General Guidance PE is on a Wednesday and Thursday. Indoor and outdoor PE kit is required for these sessions (which should be shorts and tshirt only for indoors, not long jogging bottoms). Whenever possible, dinner money should be sent to school on a Monday morning for the forthcoming week. School uniform should be worn at all times. Thank you for your continued support. |
