Class : 4 Term : Summer 2009 Language Your child will read and respond to a variety of texts, including stories by the same author and stories from other cultures. He/she will carry out author studies. He/she will write an alternative ending for a known story, write from a character’s point of view and evaluate and write advertisements. They will also investigate conjunctions, parts of speech and pronouns. Mathematics We will be continuing with work on addition,subtraction, multiplication and division as well as revisiting time and fractions. We will also look at decimals through money, pictographs, angle, position problem-solving. Science Topics In Science our topics will be Materials and Recycling. Foundation Subjects Geography - Recycling Music- - Composition Technology - Mini Enterprise and packaging ICT - using e-mail RE - The Salvation Army Welsh - Spoken, written and reading linked to homes and poetry PE - Gymnastics and Athletics Art - Kandinsky’s colours. General Guidance PE continues on a Monday and Tuesday. Indoor and outdoor PE kit is required for these sessions (which should be shorts and t-shirt only for indoors, not long jogging bottoms). Whenever possible, dinner money should be sent to school on a Monday morning for the forthcoming week. School uniform should be worn at all times. Thank you for your continued support. Parent’s Role Please continue to support your child with reading, spelling, handwriting and other hometasks. Please help your child to learn their 2,3,4,5 and 10 times tables. |
