Dear Parents,

What a lovely surprise we had yesterday! Finally, our caterpillars emerged as beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. The children and staff alike, watched in awe and amazement as the butterflies emerged from their chrysalides! What a magical moment! The children will help to release them into the garden later today! They have learned so much!

This week we have been learning about the busy life of a bee. If you have sent anything into school this week, thank you very much!

In mathematics, the children have been consolidating their learning in number recognition and ordering numbers 0 - 20. They have had fun finding hidden, numbered bees around the garden area and then ordering these correctly. There is still some work to be done to reinforce this concept with some children.

In science, the children were involved in mini-beast safaris in and around the school. They have found various mini-beasts and identified their differences and similarities and made some observational drawings.

Next week our mini theme will be ‘butterflies'. In mathematics, we will be investigating symmetry, looking at different patterns and symmetrical pictures and trying to copy and recreate our own. Once again, if your child has anything to contribute to do with this theme, please send it in to school.

We welcome Mrs Riley's return to work next week following her leave of absence and we would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Beese for her all her hard work and contribution to Class 1 during this last fortnight.

We hope you will have all been pleased with your child's report and the progress that they have made in Class 1 this year.

Once again thank you for your support,

Miss J. Bryant and the Class 1 Team
