Dear Parents and Pupils,

I would like to take this opportunity at the end of the academic year 2010/2011, to thank you all for the support and encouragement you have given to me and my staff over the past year.

It has been a busy and successful year, both in the cultural and academic achievements of the pupils and in the many changes that have been deployed to improve the school's resources and its environment.

Much of this could not have been achieved without the continued support of you - the parent body - through your attendance of PTA fundraising activities, attending meetings or actively supporting children within the school, for which we are truly grateful. May we continue to work in partnership to further develop the school and its resources, in our pursuit of excellence.

This year too we say goodbye to a number of staff - Mr Clarke - Year 5 teacher and to Mrs Michelle Lewis Teaching assistant and governor - we thank them both for all their hard work and contribution to school life and wish them well for the future.

For those of you for whom this will be the final year at Machen School, can I wish you all continued success in your new schools and hope that you will look upon your time here with fondness and satisfaction.

May I also remind those that will be back with us, that the school will be closed (for pupils) on Friday 2nd September and re-open on Monday 5^th September 2011. Children in our new nursery have already been informed of their proposed individual starting dates.

Finally can I wish both the children and yourselves an enjoyable summer and look forward to seeing you all in the new academic year.
