• INDUSTRIAL ACTION ON 30TH NOVEMBER - It appears increasingly likely that there may well be industrial action on Wednesday, 30^th November. This will regrettably mean that the school will have to close. Teaching Unions and the government continue to address the issues of pensions and there still may well be a resolution acceptable to all. I will endeavour to inform parents as soon as confirmation of this is received.
• PARENT ADVICE on SUPPORTING LEARNING AT HOME - this will be a repeat of the session provided in the summer term. Those parents who attended last time found the session useful. We hope that as many parents as possible will attend this event on the 22^nd November at 3.45 pm. The programme will consist of :

•·         ICT  MOODLE

• RECEPTION /NURSERY REPORTS - children in nursery and reception will be receiving a report on Baseline assessments - CDAP (Child Development Assessment Profile). These reports will contain statements about your child's performance on entry. These performance statements will also be accompanied by an age related score for your child's performance. These scores are set by the Welsh Assembly Government and are used to assess pupil Baselines across the whole of Wales. It will also be used to measure the value added of each school. Please remember that each child's performance will be different and that each child develops at different stages. If you are concerned about any aspect of the report please speak to the class teacher or head teacher.
• PTA PAMPER /SHOPPING EVENING: Friday 25th November @ 7PM Machen Primary School . Refreshments for sale. Spray tans and Shellac nails - £10. All other treatments £5 which include reflexology, massage, eye brows/lashes, heated mitts, nails, make over's, hair curling/straightening provided by Iconic, the Pamper Haven and the Beauty Basement. Start your Christmas shopping with lovely craft, jewellery, gift and sweets stalls including Simply Christmas, The Body Shop and Forever Living plus loads more. Grab yourself a good read from our second hand book stall. (Any donations of books to the school office please).£3 entrance (includes a free goody bag) - tickets available from school office.
• CHELTENHAM SHOPPING TRIP - SATURDAY 19^TH NOVEMBER - please note that the coach will be leaving the surgery car park at 8.30am. There will be a raffle and a sale of Christmas crackers and wrapping paper on the outward journey. All proceeds to be donated to the PTA.
