- SPORTS DAY NEW DATE–We have now set a new date for the 24th June at 1.15pm - weather permitting. Both morning and afternoon sessions for Nursery class will be cancelled – with all nursery children meeting staff at the Recreation ground.
- PARKING on FFWRWM ROAD – I have had a complaint from residents on the road especially from the bungalows. Many of the people living in these houses are elderly and some have health problems and need constant access to their cars. According to one resident some parents are parking their cars in the designated parking bay for these residents which has led to some upset. Please ensure that when dropping pupils off at school that you park your cars in a parking area which is not designated solely for the use of residents. Your cooperation with this matter is most appreciated.
- ADVANCED WARNING – JUNE 30TH – POSSIBLE INDUSTRIAL ACTION -you may be aware that some teaching unions are balloting members to undertake industrial action on June 30th which may impact on schools. Presently only two unions have stated that action may be taken on this date. In Machen School this could mean that some classes will be cancelled for the day. I am fully aware of the implications that such action can have on parents and hence giving you advanced warning of this. I will endeavour to inform of any possible disruption as soon as intentions are fully known.
- TEACHING ASSISTANT POST – a part time job share position for two consecutive days per week has become available within the school for September 2011. Candidates will be expected to have a minimum level 2 qualification together with relevant GCSE maths and English passes – hence showing good standards of both written and verbal communication. Successful candidates will also show a commitment to obtaining a level 3 qualification through continued study with a relevant external body. For further details please contact the school office. All applications must be returned to the school office by 24th June.
